ABOUT US

two women, charapitas, chili, hats, glasses, heels, jewelry

‘Charapitas’ is shaped by two distinct artistic identities — Jamila and Estellina — whose different paths, roots and talents came together into one shared creative vision.

Jamila’s sound is deeply connected to her roots in Latin America, where rhythm has always been a natural language. Her first encounter with music came through dance starting with her mother — from salsa to hip-hop — shaping her instinct for movement and flow long before she ever stepped behind the decks. She DJs out of pure love for music and the joy of discovering new sounds, a passion that continues to guide her artistic path. In her hometown Frankfurt, this devotion led her into various creative projects, including ‘Just Like Butter’ and ‘Riverside Session’. Here she also was active as a visual artist - illustrations and drawings, which influenced her sense for structure, flow and expression. It was within these spaces that Jamila and Estellina first collaborated as artists, musicians and friends.

Estellina is a Frankfurt-based singer, songwriter and multidisciplinary artist whose creative identity is deeply rooted in the world of music and performance. From an early age, her voice became a central form of expression, shaped by a home filled with diverse musical influences through her Spanish mother and German–African American father. Singing and songwriting developed alongside a strong passion for the visual arts, which she pursued from the age of four through drawing and oil painting. This combination of sound, image, and movement continues to define her artistic language. Her musical approach is intuitive and expressive, balancing emotional depth with a strong sense of presence on stage. Singing in Spanish, English and German, Estellina uses language and melody as tools to carry stories, atmosphere and cultural memory. Her connection to fashion and pop culture further informs her performances, allowing music and visuals to merge into a cohesive experience.

Alongside her artistic practice, Estellina studies Musicology and Art History at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, deepening her understanding of music in both historical and contemporary contexts. With over ten years of professional stage and entertainment experience across Europe — particularly within the corporate event sector — she has performed in a wide range of settings. Through projects such as ‘Just Like Butter’ and ‘Riverside Session’, she became part of a vibrant creative network of musicians, producers, dancers, and organizers. It was within this collaborative environment that her musical connection with Jamila emerged, revealing a shared sense of artistic vision that would later evolve into Charapitas.
